Konya - A street dog picked up a red card from the referee during a soccer match with a funny move.

It was the 20th minute of the clash between Beyşehir Demirspor and Konya Maliyespor in a lower Turkish amateur league when a dog stormed onto the pitch and defiantly lay down on the turf. It was to be the highlight of the otherwise unspectacular kick.

Of course, the referee could not simply accept this unsportsmanlike conduct. He interrupted the game, ran towards the animal speedster and showed him the red card, as video footage on social media shows.

However, the dog was unimpressed by his sending off and made absolutely no effort to get his furry butt off the field. What street dog would let a man with a whistle tell them what to do?

The referee took action himself: to make sure it wasn't a biting stray, he let the furry friend sniff his hand. The referee then grabbed hold and dragged the cute troublemaker off the pitch to great applause from the crowd.

The dog clearly enjoyed the attention of the entire stadium.

The game was able to continue after a brief interruption and ended 1:1, as the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet reported. It is not known how many games the four-legged player will have to serve as a result of his red card.
