Puppy sits sadly in the shelter: what he has to watch there is heartbreaking for caretakers
Brookfield (Wisconsin) - So young and already so sad! Sawyer is a puppy just a few weeks old who has unfortunately already been through a lot. Together with his siblings, he was rescued from a puppy farm in Wisconsin. He then came to Brookfield to the Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS) shelter. There fate took its course.

In a TikTok video a few days ago, his caretakers reported that Sawyer had repeatedly seen his siblings being placed with families. All the puppies from his litter are now gone, except for him.
In the video, the poor dog sits lonely in his kennel. Because he was recently neutered, he also has to wear a neck brace.
Natalie Hoskins, managing director of EBHS, spoke to Newsweek about the little furry friend. She said she didn't know much about Sawyer. But she says he's adjusting pretty well to life at the shelter.
"Puppies tend to have an easier time adjusting, regardless of their background," she explained.
In the case of her little protégé, however, she had further sad news.
Another setback is followed by a happy ending - as the second TikTok video shows

"We also placed him with other puppies at the shelter to help him transition," Hoskins said. "Unfortunately, his new friends keep getting adopted," she explained to the US magazine.
But the video and the Newsweek article have since turned things around! While the little one was still at the animal shelter at the time of the interview, he was placed with a young couple shortly afterwards!
In a second video, Sawyer's new owners can be seen carrying him out of the shelter beaming with joy. His neck brace is also history in the new clip.
So the hoped-for happy ending for the four-legged friend has come after all. It seems that the reporting was worth it for him!
