Brasov (Romania) - It is nothing short of a miracle that she is still alive: Nala the dog was rescued from unacceptable conditions by an animal rights activist. She is now a real teddy bear.

Romanian Georgiana Neagu is the founder of the aid organization "SOS ARMS Saving Orphaned Souls Sheila's Animal Rescue Mission" in the city of Brașov.

She has now reported on social media how she found Nala last August. The pictures posted are not for the faint-hearted.

The little dog's face was completely encrusted at the time, she was infested with flies and other creepy-crawlies, and her fur and skin were in a terrible state.

The owners of the little fighter were unable to look after the four-legged friend properly at the time. Nala became weaker from day to day, partly due to a severe calcium deficiency.

"And emotionally she was falling apart," says Georgiana in the emotional article. She therefore took care of her and has since turned her into a handsome dog.

But the road there was long and not easy. Initially, all the treatment did not help and Nala was even worse. This was one of the reasons why Georgiana took her in, so that she could really look after her.

"Months of treatment for her skin, her bones and her general health" were necessary, but the dog never gave up.

And today she is doing well. "She is developing into a fluffy, soft teddy bear of a dog," says the animal rights activist with pride. Nala is calm and full of love, but still tends to be overlooked by people because of her size.

Nevertheless, Georgiana hopes to find a great family for her - or alternatively a sponsor who can support her financially in caring for the mixed-breed dog.
