Bergen County (USA) - This video has been breaking the hearts of so many TikTok users since the end of March. It shows male dog Teddy less than an hour before his death. His owner Samantha Silver (23) from Bergen County, New Jersey, writes about the video: "That was the moment I knew". She has since admitted that it was a little different.

"He kept going under the bed to relax and get his rest," the 23-year-old said in an interview with Newsweek this week. This time, however, she had a strange feeling.

A few weeks earlier, it had emerged that twelve-year-old Teddy was suffering from kidney failure and didn't have much time left. "His condition deteriorated so quickly," said Silver.

She had originally been pleased because the four-legged friend had seemed surprisingly vital that day. "I took the video because he was walking so well on his own. But I didn't know he was going to fall. When I stopped the video, I picked him up, hugged him tightly and showed him all my love ."

When she watched the video again after Teddy's death, she realized what had happened just 55 minutes before he died.

She looked at his gaze again in the clip, the owner said. "He was trying to tell me it was time," she told the US magazine.

She continued: "Something in my body was sending me a warning signal that morning. Because I just held him in my arms and cried. I told him I loved him and gave him permission to go over the Rainbow Bridge."

The rest of her family had given Teddy permission weeks earlier, Silver said. She herself had denied it and was not prepared to let go.

Shortly after the moment in the video, the terminally ill dog retreated under the bed, where he finally fell asleep peacefully.

A few days later, he was supposed to be put out of his misery and euthanized.

The heartbreaking video has since received 2.2 million clicks on TikTok. A great farewell for the little dog.
