Louie the dog gets compliments all the time: What his master learns about his four-legged friend leaves him speechless

Baltimore (USA) - When Max Matthai adopted his dog Louie from the animal shelter, the American didn't know what kind of four-legged friend he was dealing with. Two years later, the results are astonishing.

"All we had was a picture of him. We had no idea what breed he was or how big he would grow," Max told Newsweek magazine.

Today, Louie would weigh a proud 35 kilograms, be an avid swimmer and love to romp around with other dogs in his new home of Baltimore (US state of Maryland).

But owner Max has identified a completely different reason why his four-legged friend loves being out and about in the fresh air: Louie regularly receives compliments!

"We get stopped all the time and people ask us about him. They always tell us he's one of the most beautiful dogs people have ever seen," says the American.

Dog Louie has to take a DNA test, but his owner Max didn't expect the result

Louie's admirers also usually have a very specific question on their lips: they want to know what breed of dog the four-legged friend belongs to. The problem is that his owner Max didn't have an answer yet.

So the American decided to subject his pet to a DNA test. The result knocked Max's socks off!

"At first I thought he was a golden retriever-collie mix," he said. But far from it. As it turned out, Louie is 30 percent German shepherd, 20 percent pit bull and 20 percent Great Pyrenees. The rest is a random mix.

His owner Max can now finally tell his furry friend's admirers about his breed. For him, everything remains the same: "Louie is a wonderful dog. I love him more than anything," said the proud dog dad.
