The golden retriever Comet was hit by a car in the US state of Connecticut around a week ago and then disappeared without a trace.

As the New Haven Register reported, posters were put up throughout the town of Waterford asking people to contact the owner if anyone saw the dog .

But yesterday, Tuesday, the unbelievable happened: The missing four-legged friend simply walked into the local police station - almost as if he knew he would get help there.

However, he did not escape completely unscathed, he had an injury to his front leg. Nevertheless, his owners were quickly informed and made their way straight to their beloved four-legged friend.

Golden Retriever Comet wagged his tail happily

When they finally entered the police station, Comet wagged his tail happily while his owner burst into tears of joy and his master asked him where he had been all this time.

In the end, the owner told his pet that he was finally home. The officials and animal welfare officers to whom the dog was handed over were also happy that the family was finally reunited!
