Family adopts dog and returns to the shelter a short time later: the reason is heartbreaking

USA/Alabama - A family wanted to give a dog from an animal shelter a second chance, but they soon returned - because they just couldn't getanother four-legged friend out of their heads.

The animal shelter in the US state of Alabama shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook last Sunday.

In it, they reported that a lovely family had adopted the one-year-old dog Carrie around three weeks ago.

But they returned just two days later. The reason? The six-year-old four-legged friend Timber.

At first, the family couldn't decide between the two furry friends. So they decided without further ado to adopt them both!

"What do you do when you can't decide between two rescued dogs? You adopt one - and come back two days later to pick up the other dog. How great is that!" wrote the animal shelter on Facebook .

The dog Carrie was found as a stray last September - she was just six months old at the time.

Timber, on the other hand, had to wait a little longer for his second chance. He was abandoned near the shelter in the summer of 2023.

The staff were also said to be overjoyed that both dogs have found loving homes and can now enjoy their new lives to the full.
