USA - After eight long years, a man and his missing dog have finally been reunited!

The little four-legged friend Damian, who belongs to Paul Guilbeault, disappeared without a trace in 2017.

As ABC News reports, the dog had broken his leash during a move across the USA and wandered off.

Despite countless searches, missing person posters and widespread appeals, the beloved furry friend remained missing for years, but Paul never gave up hope.

Then, completely unexpectedly, he received a phone call this month, which he initially ignored! However, when he received a text message shortly afterwards saying that Damian had been found, he could hardly believe his eyes.

He quickly had his husband call the unknown number back and sure enough, Damian had been found!

The woman on the phone said that she almost ran over the dog, but was able to save it in time.

She took the neglected animal to her brother, who looked after him for a few days before taking the four-legged friend to a vet.

There, his microchip was finally scanned and Paul was identified as the owner.

He and his husband immediately set off for the US state of Oklahoma, where they arrived after a 14-hour drive.

When Paul saw his dog again for the first time, Damian was visibly older and less groomed than eight years ago. But he recognized his owner immediately and wagged his tail happily!

The two of them are now making up for lost time: Long walks in the park and lots of cuddles are on the agenda.
