Washington (USA) - There is a first time for everything and sometimes it is not a very pleasant experience. A dachshund mix from the USA had to learn this when it was confronted by a creature it had never met before.

Four-legged friend "Butters", who lives with Jessica Arriaga in Washington, met a parrot for the first time in his young dog's life.

His owner Jessica obviously had an inkling that this meeting in a pet supply store might be something special and captured it on camera.

In the video, you can see the dachshund mongrel staring wide-eyed in one direction while being held in someone's arms.

A mixture of fear, perplexity and confusion is written on the dog's face as he keeps his eyes on the large colorful macaw sitting on a metal hoop across from him.

The four-legged friend then casts a panicked glance at his owner. Almost as if he wanted to say to her: "Mom, what kind of weird dog is that?" or "Mom, can we please get out of here right now?"

The clip, which received around 151,000 clicks on TikTok , caused a lot of laughter. Users are sure they know why the dachshund mix had such a nervous reaction: "His mother probably taught him that giant birds eat you. Haha", writes one viewer with amusement. Another also thinks that the dog's fear is justified given the difference in size.

Owner Jessica aptly summarizes that her Butters is "not a fan of the giant bird ", even though he is already used to other animal species thanks to the other furry friends in his home.

He simply wasn't comfortable with the macaw because of its size and the sight of its mighty beak.
