Peru - This footage from South America is so touching: a small dog desperately tries to reach its beloved owner during the funeral. The video quickly made the rounds online and broke millions of hearts.

The heartbreaking footage was uploaded by TikTok user "saltapeque" from Peru , who was related to the deceased named Jacinto.

In the video, the grieving family can be seen standing at the grave of the deceased, which is being closed by the cemetery staff. Suddenly, a dog jumps into the open grave, sniffs excitedly and starts scratching at the slabs in confusion. It seems as if the four-legged friend "Crispín" can still smell his deceased master through the coffin and doesn't understand why the man is being buried.

The black and white dog looks into the grave again and again, apparently desperately searching for his friend.

Even when the grave is closed with earth and a cover a little later, "Crispín" continues to try to find his former owner by digging a small hole next to the resting place and sticking his head in.

User "saltapeque" explains in his TikTok post that his cousin Jacinto was seriously ill. During this difficult time, however, his dog never left his side and "accompanied him until the day he died".

"Crispín didn't understand why my cousin was in the ground and wanted to go with him 🥺🥺🥺🥺", the Peruvian continues. The clip from March 18 has already been viewed more than 5.4 million times.
