Rachel Oldenburger, a volunteer at the shelter, finally dared to approach Roxy to show her that not all people are bad. However, it was weeks before the terrier mix was able to trust Rachel.
At first, Roxy stood there petrified and trembling. The dog couldn't even look at Rachel. It was only after a few days that the four-legged friend began to accept treats and cuddles.
On the 19th day, other staff at the animal shelter were also able to slowly approach Roxy. "That was a great moment," Rachel wrote in a video that went viral on Instagram.
Frightened dog can regain confidence after a long time
At the end of the clip you can see how Roxy can finally enjoy her walks - even in the company of other dogs. On day 35, the dog's fearfulness seemed to have completely disappeared, as she was now willing to have her tummy stroked.
The terrier mix is now a confident and self-assured dog again - and ready to find a new forever home.
