Small bird dares to get surprisingly close to cat - then gets even bolder

In one video, a cat relaxes on the branch of a tree. But instead of waiting for prey, it has its hair pulled out by a small bird.

The clip, which was recently published on the TikTok channel "gidgetstivalabodiford", went viral within a few hours.

It shows a bird that appears to be a skylark. The small animal ventures surprisingly close to a cat taking a nap on the branch.

In order to complete its nest, the bird plucks a few of the cat 's hairs. The velvet paw doesn't seem to mind.

The cat's owner zooms in on the snoozing pet and captures the cute scene.

"He's literally pulling his hair out to build a nest," says the woman in the video. Later, the little titmouse even lands directly on the cat - apparently completely fearlessly - to steal even more fur.

Numerous TikTok viewers were both thrilled and fascinated. The clip has so far achieved over 900,000 views and 156,000 likes.

Spectators are fascinated by the cat-bird symbiosis

Tits and skylarks often nest in natural holes and caves, but also in artificial structures such as nesting boxes, fence posts or metal pipes. They line their nests with soft materials such as hair and wool.

The fact that the little bird in the video is targeting the cat's fur is therefore not at all unusual.

"It's their personal hairdresser", joked one viewer, while another described the cute natural spectacle as a "symbiotic relationship".
