Florida (USA) - A couple who provided a safe haven for a neighborhood cat is being celebrated by numerous viewers on TikTok.

When the usually sunny US state of Florida was recently hit by freezing temperatures and snow, authorities urged residents to take precautions for themselves and their pets.

At that moment, Jenna Day and her partner saw a stray cat from the neighborhood on their patio that seemed to be visibly freezing.

So they quickly decided to give the animal a warm home until the cold weather had passed.

They brought the cat inside, where it snuggled up with them on the couch. In a clip posted on Jenna's TikTok account "jenna.dayyy", the cat relaxes in a sea of blankets.

To make sure the kitten was comfortable, Jenna and her boyfriend stroked the velvet paw again and again.

To their surprise, it turned out days later that no owner could be found for the animal. The couple from Florida then made an obvious decision.

Realizing that they couldn't just put the cute cat back outside, Jenna and her partner decided to keep her. In another video, they said the animal was christened Peaches.

"She's still getting used to everything, but we're enjoying one day at a time," Jenna told Newsweek.

Peaches soon seemed to embrace her new lifestyle and feel right at home. She loves to be petted and is always snuggling up to her new owners. She also seems to enjoy watching TV from the couch.

Touched by the couple's decision, many TikTok viewers commented on the viral video. One user wrote: "Awww, thank you for helping her, she looks so happy."
