A baby cat is dying: What her conspecific does then touches so many
Hobart (Washington) - What heartbreaking pictures: Cat Poppy literally takes baby cat Journey into her arms and caresses him lovingly. At around three months old, the velvet paw is actually still a kitten herself. But she seems to sense that the poor ball of fur is dying.

A TikTok video shows several of the touching moments in which the animals cuddle together. The clip was filmed by Journey's foster mother Ashley Saldana from Hobart, Washington.
The US-American fostered the seriously ill kitten at the beginning of the year, hoping that her cat Poppy could give him comfort. Unfortunately, she knew that Journey would not survive.
The tender creature was extremely ill and unresponsive, the animal lover explained in an interview with Newsweek this week.
She had been suffering from what is known as feline neonatal isoerythrolysis, Saldana said. In this condition, the blood groups of the mother and offspring are not compatible, meaning that the little ones die after around two weeks.
To make Journey's suffering at least more bearable, she entrusted him to Poppy.

Presumably a blessing for the tiny cat, who received as much love as possible in the last hours of his life. "She's so gentle and caring," Poppy's owner gushed to the US magazine.
The day after she shot the video, Journey died. He was only ten days old.
"I am grateful that he was able to experience this moment," said Saldana.
But the loving velvet paw doesn't just leave such a stunning impression on her. The video is also making waves with the TikTok audience.
3.7 million clicks have been accumulated since January 7, plus more than 250,000 likes. There are many (broken) hearts in the comments column.
So despite his short life, Journey has ultimately left a lasting impression.
