They have been friends for more than nine years. Velvet paw Barsik and the Central Asian Ovcharka Aiyu have known each other all their lives and trust each other blindly.

The two live on the farm of Isa, a mountain farmer in the Russian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the North Caucasus.

Aiyu came to the farm as a puppy, and a year later friends brought Barsik, a kitten, to the farm, explains the owner to the Telegram channel Baza. The two get along wonderfully, drink and eat together and cuddle up to each other while they sleep.

The two friends can often be seen walking around happily. Aiyu likes to play "cab" for his good buddy, taking the cat on his back and carrying him into the mountains, as a viral video shows. Aiyu and Barsik seem to really enjoy the panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains of the Caucasus.

Aiyu always keeps an eye on the farm and Isa's sheep when they are not on their little excursions, while Barsik looks after the mice.

But when tourists come, the animal friends show what a well-coordinated team they really are, the pet owner reports. Barsik then quickly climbs onto the back of his canine friend and the two of them run along for a bit. "It's all because they feed them sausages and sweets," says Isa with a wink. "They love tourists very much."

The Central Asian Ovcharka, also known as the Alabai, has a strong sense of territory and is considered a fearless guard dog . Few predators even stand a chance against these massive dogs . On the other hand, they are loyal and extremely gentle towards their humans.

However, the dog breed is also considered to be headstrong. Central Asian Ovcharkas absolutely need consistent training, sufficient exercise and something to guard.
