Seattle (USA) - One of the most annoying and time-consuming things about traveling by plane is probably waiting at the baggage carousel. If you're in a hurry, it's better to use hand luggage, which you can take into the cabin of the plane and then take back out the same way after landing. A young woman (28) from the USA had also opted for smaller bags to speed up her journey - but in the end everything turned out differently.

On the journey home to Seattle , the 28-year-old was suddenly asked to check in her hand luggage so that it could be transported in the belly of the plane. Normally, small suitcases and bags can be stowed in the cabin under the seat or in the overhead bin.

Before departure, however, Sophie was told that there was no more room there. For this reason, her bags were placed in the baggage compartment of the plane and had to be collected by her from the baggage carousel after landing.

However, when Sophie boarded the plane - without her hand luggage - what she saw made her really angry!

During boarding, it became clear that the luggage racks above the seats were anything but full and would have provided plenty of space for her belongings. Sophie therefore vented her angeron TikTok .

In one video, she can be seen frantically filming the situation in the aircraft cabin. She writes: "United Airlines is simply the worst." Apart from the three-hour delay, she now has to wait "for no reason for baggage claim". Her clip quickly made the rounds and has now been clicked on over 41,000 times.

While many viewers agree with the 28-year-old and report similar experiences, others try to explain the situation to Sophie.

One user, who says she works for the airline in question, writes that it is common for only four specific ticket groups to be able to take their hand luggage onto the plane . During boarding, the crew would then check how full the luggage racks were and then decide whether the following group had to check in their luggage. "We don't want you to bring your luggage with you and then find that there's no space left," says the user.

Other viewers suspect that the decision on the location of the baggage has something to do with the weight distribution on the plane or is intended to speed up the boarding process.

Passenger Sophie at least didn't have to pay for her checked baggage. And the airline? It has not yet commented on the viral video.
