As the passengers were boarding the plane - which was due to fly from Rome to Germany - they suddenly heard a suspicious meowing.

After a brief search, airport staff discovered what was going on. According toThe Sun, a cat had sneaked into the heart of the aircraft, namely the technical and control room, .

But this discovery was just the beginning: when the employees tried to catch the cat , it fled deeper and deeper into the wiring of the Boeing 737.

Technicians desperately tried to get the animal out of the aircraft, even removing several covers in the process - to no avail.

Only when they left a door open and the cat in peace did it slowly make its way out of the plane via a staircase.

This unexpected incident meant massive delays for the airline. The plane had to remain on the ground for a whole two days before it was finally able to take off last Monday.
