The Airbus A330 was on its way from Madrid (Spain) to Caracas in Venezuela on February 28. Halfway through the flight, over the Atlantic Ocean, a passenger became agitated.

A spokesperson for the airline told NeedToKnow that the passenger had disturbed the person sitting next to him. He is said to have hit and shouted at him while he was sleeping.

The crew then reacted and calmed the situation by moving the man to a seat where he could no longer disturb anyone else.

Only a few minutes later, however, the passenger ran to one of the aircraft doors and tried to open it.

The man was detained

The flight attendants intervened immediately, restrained the man and brought him back to a safe place.

After arriving in Caracas, the passenger was taken into custody. The reason for his attempt to open the door is still unclear.

A video on X shows the incident and captures the panic that was written all over the faces of the other passengers.
