In June 2023, the 54-year-old was traveling from Boston to New York when the accident happened, as People magazine reports.

According to the lawsuit, the car came hurtling out of the back of the plane just as the aircraft was touching down at JFK Airport and slowed down sharply.

It crashed into Sim's foot, pushing him against the seat in front of him and causing so much damage that the man had to be treated for months. According to his own statement, Sim suffered several fractures and a deep wound.

But he was not the only one affected by the accident with the speeding trolley; other passengers were also injured. Republic Airways has not yet commented on the allegations.

The victim is now demanding compensation of at least 150,000 US dollars for what his lawyer describes as "life-changing injuries".

Sim's lawyer Erin Applebaum also described the incident as "shocking" and announced that she would "hold the airline accountable". She accuses the cabin crew - who allegedly failed to secure the car in accordance with regulations - of "inexcusable negligence".
